The Next 50 Years

BY Numed, Inc

As Numed concludes its 50th anniversary celebration, this moment offers a meaningful pause and an opportunity to look back with gratitude and ahead with optimism. Five decades of service is not simply a milestone; it’s a testament to the people, values, and relationships that have shaped who we are.

Honoring Strong Beginnings

For leaders who have spent decades of their careers at Numed, reaching the 50-year mark is proof of our team’s enduring commitment to our established culture of care, loyalty, and genuine appreciation for the people who make the work possible. As Co-President & Chief Administrative Officer Jack Allen explains, “Success begins with a strong foundation, and at Numed, that foundation is its people.”

For the past fifty years, one value has remained constant: the belief that Numed is more than a workplace. Chuck Bird, Senior Vice President of Engineering, reflects, “Ed Menkemeller created the culture for Numed from the first day… He appreciated the work that each employee did, and he actually cared about each employee and their family.”

The Culture That Will Carry Us Forward

As long-tenured leaders look to the future, they envision new employees carrying forward Numed’s spirit of teamwork, kindness, and pride in serving patients. For Jack Allen, the hope is “that the next generation of Numed employees will continue to build upon the foundation established from the very beginning.”

Remaining consistent with our founding principles does not mean overlooking opportunities to improve and expand upon established ideas. Over the years, Numed has found strength in adaptability and continuous evolution as we navigate the ever-changing diagnostic imaging industry.

Looking Ahead with Purpose

The future of diagnostic imaging is filled with possibility. Advancements in AI, new therapies, and evolving technologies will continue to redefine what is possible in patient care. Innovation has already begun reshaping the field, and Numed is actively preparing to embrace what’s next.

AI stands out as one of the most promising tools for supporting facilities and improving patient experiences. Numed has already begun integrating cutting-edge AI solutions and will continue partnering closely with OEMs to bring meaningful improvements to the communities we serve.

At the same time, the broader healthcare environment is changing rapidly. Smaller hospitals and clinics may face increased financial pressures, staffing challenges, and ongoing demand for high-quality imaging options.  Jack Allen anticipates that “our greatest challenge will be to continue to deliver high-quality healthcare in an affordable and accessible way… ensuring there is a clear path to bring that technology to everyone, especially those in underserved communities.”

Despite these challenges, Numed remains committed to supporting facilities with integrity, providing reliable service and access to technology they may not otherwise have.

Imagining the Next 50 Years

The next 50 years will undoubtedly bring unpredictable change, but Numed’s foundation remains steady. Addressing employees, partners, and clients, Jack Allen affirms that, “we remain deeply committed to being the strong, innovative, creative, and hardworking company we have always been.”

When leaders picture Numed at its 100th anniversary, their aspirations are refreshingly grounded. Chuck Bird envisions Numed as “a leader in providing high-quality healthcare to patients, and a great company to work for.” David Elkins, Vice President of Operations, sees Numed continuing to be “a good, transparent, and ethical partner.”

Their hopes echo the same qualities that have sustained Numed since day one. Our goal isn’t to become something entirely new, but to continue being the company we’ve always promised to be while upholding our founding principles of agility, precision, and innovation.

The story of Numed’s first 50 years was written by people who believed in the mission, and the next 50 years will be no different.
