SPECT Imaging and Cardiac Applications

Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is a core component of many nuclear medicine systems, allowing physicians to evaluate how organs and tissues are functioning. In cardiology, SPECT imaging is commonly used for myocardial perfusion imaging and cardiac stress testing to assess blood flow to the heart. Standard SPECT delivers powerful functional imaging, but many systems also incorporate CT technology, creating SPECT/CT imaging that combines functional and anatomical information in a single exam. This added capability can improve diagnostic confidence, support more precise localization, and help facilities expand their imaging services, and is especially valuable for nuclear cardiology, oncology, and routine Nuclear Medicine studies.
